Over the last few weeks I have had a great response to this and think everyone has come forward. I haven't replied/got in touch with anyone yet as I wanted to wait for all responses to come in and then do it all in one go... so in the new year I will get round to replying to everyone personally and arranging the items to be picked up. Thanks for the response and have a great Christmas. Oli

I'm really happy to see all these great names re-united with their meisterwerks but I think the burning question to put to young Master W has to be whether you found any blueys up in the loft?' If you did, do send them my way please. Too soon? Thought so. I do apologise.

Hi Oliver, I managed X-O-Dus between 79-83 and was at Tractor when Dennis Bovell came up to mix English Black Boys. He brought Janet Kaye with him, and as she was in the charts at the time, the lads in the band were well impressed! Your Dad had plans to release a second single which never came about but I have long wondered what happened to the masters. I recently discovered that I also have a demo tape with three later songs recorded at Drone studio in Chorlton. Bloody good they are too! I also worked with Foreign Press for a while. I came across this completely by accident and am quite gob-smacked!

Cerysmatic are pretty certain that we can put Oli in contact with most of the bands mentioned (as soon as JC returns from his hols).

Oli - those are truly amazing finds, great that those tapes still exist.I often wonder what became of the masters of my single FAC 48 'Ophelias Drinking Song/Cathy Clown" I did with Donald of ACR and also the Graveyard studio session with New Order - one song we did 'A Piece of Fate' never got released though I don't remember it being all that good sorry to say!Another item I wonder about is a tape I gave your dad in 1981 of The Sound and I doing a song called 'Plenty' - he said he'd never bring out anything by a London band on Factory - we later re-recorded it in 1983 with different lyrics for Cherry Red Records. The words were changed because of New Order's 'Temptation','Plenty' had a similar thing about the colours of eyes in the original version which was done before the NO track.Again probably no great shakes in terms of music history but would be nice if it were found knocking about somewhere as it has both Adrian Borland and Colvin Mayers playing on it god rest their souls.

Hi Oliver I think the best place they could go to would be Vinyl Revival. Manchester's only Mancunian record shop. Seriously though, try James Nice at LTM. He does release most of the Factory back cataloge stuff anyway.

If you (or if you know someone that) recorded on Factory Records please read this. When clearing my dads loft out I found lots of original master tapes from Factory Records releases over the years. I intend to return these to their rightful owners (the artist) or preferably I would like to put them into an archive in Manchester (whether this is Museum of Science and Industry or somewhere else I dont know yet - this is to be determined when I am back at Christmas). I would rather store them as so far they have been kept in great condition by my old man and it would be great to keep them that way... have a feeling that if they aren't kept like that they would just gather dust and rot away in a studio!!! I dont have contact details for any of these people so if you read this please get in touch or if you know them then let them know to give me a shout. The Railway Children. Hopper. Stockholm Monsters. The Wendys. Cath Carrol. Fadela. Section 25. Thick Pidgeon. Northside. Exodus.
